Comprehensive Maintenance Policy

Our Comprehensive Maintenance Policy (CMP) is now available to all owners of band and orchestral instruments for just $79/year.

The CMP protects you from costly repair bills and the loss of your instrument. Policy holders also receive priority service in our repair shop.

The CMP also includes the replacement of a covered instrument in the event of theft or fire. Just bring in the police report and your instrument will be replaced. Details

Covered repairs vary by instrument and are listed below:

Flutes

• Replacement of necessary pads, corks, springs, etc.
• Regulation of mechanisms and leak check
• Free any frozen rods
• Removal of reachable dents, excluding lip plate

Clarinets and Oboes

• Replacement of necessary pads, corks, springs, etc.
• Regulation of mechanisms and leak check
• Free any frozen rods
• Wooden clarinets only - in addition to previously mentioned procedures, all cracks in the body of the instrument will be filled and/or pinned, and joint and bell rings will be tightened

Saxophones

• Replacement of necessary pads, corks, springs, etc.
• Regulation of mechanisms and leak check
• Free any frozen rods
• Removal of minor dents that affect performance
• Resolder loose joints, posts, braces, and key guards

Trumpets and Cornets

• Replacement of water key and valve corks
• Pulling stuck mouthpieces
• Free any frozen slides
• Replacement of necessary springs and felts
• Resolder loose joints and braces
• Clean, buff, oil, and regulate pistions and slides
• Removal of dents in bell flare

French Horns

• Restring and regulate rotary valves
• Pull stuck mouthpieces
• Free any frozen slides
• Replacement of necessary springs and corks
• Resolder loose joints and braces
• Removal of dents in bell flare

Trombones

• Clean and realign handslide
• Free any frozen slides
• Pull stuck mouthpieces
• Repair water key and replace corks
• Remove dents in bell flare

Violins, Violas, and Cellos

• Replacement of bow hair
• Resetting of bridge (or replacement, if needed), soundpost, tailpiece, nut, and tailgut
• Regulate and correct slipping pegs
• Glue cracks and open seams

Instrument Cases

• Case repair is limited to the repair or replacement of latches, hinges, and handles if feasible.

Details

All adjustments and repairs will be made to keep your instrument in proper playing condition. This does not include restoration of finish or replacement of expendable accessories.

Instruments must be in good playing condition at the time the policy is issued (subject to inspection and approval by our repair technicians).

Some restrictions apply to instrument replacement. Instrument will be replaced with a like or comparable model.

Exclusions

Any evidence of abuse, misuse, neglect, or intentional damage will void the CMP.

Correction of repairs not performed by Sam Gibbs Music Company are not covered by the CMP.

Any conditions that do not affect the playing performance of the instrument are not covered by the CMP.

Lost or broken mouthpieces are not covered by the CMP, but policy holders will receive a 50% discount on the purchase of a replacement mouthpiece.

Accessories that are intended to be used up during the normal operation and upkeep of the instrument are not covered by the CMP. These include (but are not limited to) reeds, oils, cork grease, swabs, sticks, rosin, shoulder pads, and strings.
